WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN CROSSFIT ANCHORED ATHLETICS?
After multiple knee surgeries I took a break from fitness to rehabilitate. I started going to the gym but was inconsistent with adhering to a regular workout routine and was looking for a new fitness challenge, personal training/guidance and a group fitness setting to boost my motivation. Marnie actually recommended and encouraged me to join Crossfit anchored athletics!
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT CROSSFIT ANCHORED ATHLETICS?
I love how crossfit anchored athletics has created a community that supports and motivates each member to advance their personal fitness level and achieve personal fitness goals. The group class setting motivates me to attend daily classes and push myself to complete daily WOD’s. The daily crossfit WOD’s always challenge me and allow me to identify areas for improvement and to set personal fitness goals. The one to one coaching instruction allows me to learn proper technique and seek guidance on how to achieve personal fitness goals (pullups, DU’s, etc.)
WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU SEEN IN YOUR BODY COMPOSITION, HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE SINCE STARTING CROSSFIT?
Overall my cardiovascular endurance has improved, increased muscle mass and strength, increased energy levels, improved sleeping pattern, establishing consistent nutritional habits and a balanced diet.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR SPORTS AND FITNESS BACKGROUND:
I played soccer at a competitive level growing up and after multiple injuries was looking for an alternative fitness option.
WHAT IS YOUR SHORT TERM (3 Month goal)?
5 strict pull-ups
WHAT IS YOUR LONG TERM (6-12 Month goal)?
Kipping pull-ups, improvement of technique and efficiency of toes to bar, chest to bar pull-ups (12 month goal)
WHAT WOULD YOUR ADVICE BE TO SOMEONE WANTING TO START CrossFit BUT IS NERVOUS?
There is no need to be nervous or anxious about starting crossfit! I needed to join crossfit to realize that it is appropriate for ALL fitness levels and backgrounds. The best thing is to not make assumptions just show up and you will realize the supportive encouraging environment created by all members at Crossfit anchored athletics. The coaching staff adapts all exercises according to your needs and progresses exercises to achieve personal goals. As we are completing the Cross fit open it amazes me the transformation and progress all the members have made since they have started….it is very inspiring!
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF OUTSIDE OF CROSSFIT ANCHORED ATHLETICS:
Outside of Cross fit: I am currently completing my masters, I enjoy spending time with husband, hiking with my 2 spoiled dogs, spending time at the lake, kayaking, exploring new places on the Island.
