What made you decide to join CrossFit Anchored Athletics?
I need motivation when I work out! Someone to push and encourage me. I cannot afford a personal trainer. Also working out alone is very very very boring. the main reason was to lose weight and get ripped/jacked.
What do you enjoy most about CrossFit Anchored Athletics?
The coaches, equipment, variety of moments, other athletes and most of all the CLEAN ENVIRONMENT.
What changes have you seen in your body composition, health and performance since starting at Anchored Athletics?
I have way more endurance, stamina, and not to mention getting stronger. I have lost a lot of weight. 297-215= 82lbs to be exact! Finally, I am seeing muscle definition as well.
Tell us about your sport and fitness background:
Growing up I was a runner/sprinter (100, 200, 400 m) Yes faster than The great USAIN BOLT. LOL. I stopped running after high school. I also played Cricket and netball during college. I grew up in deep rural Jamaica, I got my first TV in 1988… We had to find other ways to entertain ourselves playing sports for fun. Not to mention walking 3.5 miles to and from the bus stop almost every day for 15 years until I migrated.
What is your short term (3 month goal)?
3-month goal getting some pull ups and dips.
What is your long term (6-12 month goal)?
6-12 month goal being able to master all cross-fit moves RXing more workouts and do some competing.
What would your advice be to someone wanting to start CrossFit but is nervous?
Give it a try! life is about taking risks. it is a risk worth taking for many reasons. later on in life, your body will thank you! The coaches are fun and all movements can be modified! remember NO ONE WILL JUDGE YOU! it is a GREAT community unlike a commercial gym, you actually get to know the people at your gym. There’s always that feeling of teamwork and camaraderie. There is always constant coaching and support. While it’s not 1:1 training, you have a coach with you during every workout to help out. FINALLY doing CrossFit builds “HOT BODIES”. It builds good muscular endurance and all around fitness – your body is prepared for pretty much any athletic situation after a few months.
