Mitch Claypool
Owner / CrossFit Coach and Personal Trainer
Mitch spent 8 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, first working as a Combat Engineer then specializing as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Operator (Bomb Tech). He deployed to Afghanistan in 2007-2008 as a member of 5e Régiment du genie de combat based out of Quebec city.
In 2007 – 2008 while deployed he heard of CrossFit from some Americans soldiers who were in the same forward operating base as him. When he returned to Canada he started educating himself and became very interested in the workouts. Unfortunately, at the time there was no CrossFit affiliate in Quebec City so he started to teach himself at the facilities on the base.
Mitch has always enjoyed fitness but lacked proper knowledge of training techniques and proper nutrition strategies. This led to a lot of frustration when he wasn’t achieving the results he desired from his training. In 2010 decided it was time for a change and started to incorporate CrossFit training as his primary training method as well as creating positive nutrition habits. Today he feels happier and healthier than ever and knows that CrossFit has fundamentally changed his life and has given him the tools to succeed with his fitness and nutritional goals.
Mitch’s mission with Anchored Athletics is to empower his team to have meaningful coaching careers which in turn can positively impact as many people as possible.
Mitch has owned and Coached at the gym since November 2014

Kristin Johnson
Head CrossFit kids Coach, Nutritionist and Personal Trainer
Kristinʼs love of fitness, health, and nutrition started at an early age. Growing up she was a provincial level figure skater and played softball. She spent a lot of time coaching younger skaters and passing on her knowledge to them. After high school, she attended the University of British Columbia, obtaining a Bachelorʼs of Science degree in Human Nutrition.
In the years following university, she spent most of her time bringing up 2 daughters and passing on her passion for fitness to them. She spent her time volunteering as a softball coach and serving on the board of directors for her daughterʼs gymnastics club. She also took up running and has completed innumerable 5 km and 10 km races as well as 10 half marathons and 3 full marathons.
In 2015 she discovered CrossFit when her daughter took up the sport, joining a few months after her daughter started. In August 2018 she took her CrossFit level 1 and became a trainer. Taking this course and becoming a trainer fit right into her passion of helping people achieve their goals. She always makes sure to remind people that with a positive attitude you can do anything you set your mind to.
